Day 1…Saturday @ SWW09

Day 1 at SolidWorks WORLD 2009 is in the books and it was a great time. The day began for me at around 3:00 pm when I officially checked into the Swan & Dolphin Resort. All I can say is what a place. Matt West (SolidWorks Corp) made an awesome video of doing a walkthrough of the hotel; you need to check it out here.

Around 5:00 I headed down to my first meeting of the event which was a blogger’s roundtable. Julie Casanave, Bill Taylor, Rob Rodriguez, Ricky Jordan, Rich Hall, Alex Ruiz, Mike Puckett, Matt Lorono, Gabi Jack, Matt West, myself, Richard Doyle, Jeff Mirisola, and Jim Wilkinson were in attendance. This was a great time and it included a lot of laughter from the SolidWorks Blog Squad. It was great to see all of these people again and catch up on life.

After the blogger’s roundtable, everyone headed over to the lobby lounge of the hotel for the 1st annual SolidWorks WORLD 2009 Tweetup / blogger social. It is always fun to finally meet all of the people that you have been communicated with via text (tweeting and emails) over the past year. It was a pleasure of mine to finally meet people such as Charles Culp and others. Jeff Ray and Jon Hirschtick even made appearances which is always a treat. I do think however that the highlight of the event was the cookies and fudge that Ricky Jordan brought along from his wonderful wife Christy. If you do not already know Christy you need to find out who she is IMMEDIATELY! She is the woman behind the Southern Plate website and cookbook. Between being an owner of her cookbook and a taste tester of her cookies and fudge, she is amazing!

This event more or less wrapped up the 1st day for me at SolidWorks WORLD 2009. I have quite a bit going on today (Sunday) so stay tuned right here for details of what happened on Day 2 of the event.
