SolidWorks 2008 sp2.0 Is Live!
January 15, 2008 1 Comment
SolidWorks Corporation released SolidWorks 2008 sp2.0 yesterday. There have been some problems reported with the Early Visibility for this service pack so browse the SolidWorks Discussion Forum to decide if you are ready to download it. I personally downloaded sp2.0 last night and played around with it for a while and had no problems but some users have experienced issues. I use the old school method of downloading upgrades by saving it to my hard drive, extracting/unzipping it and then installing it. I have never had luck using the SolidWorks Installation Manager, I always seemed to have problems during the install and then with the software after the install. I have no idea if this is part of solving some of the problems others are having but this is the route that I usually go. So if you are interested in trying it out go to the Downloads and Updates section in the SolidWorks Customer Portal to download it.
Josh at SolidSmack had a post yesterday that provided a brief review of some of the problems that were occurring. Check it out HERE!

Jason,
I also like using the ‘old school’ way of downloading just the file. It seems like when I use the installation manager, it wants to download the entire internet! See you next week.
