I wonder if this odd behavior is related to another SolidWorks shortcut issue that has puzzled me.

The icon that gets put into the Quick Launch toolbar in XP and Vista always acts differently than the Desktop or Start Menu shortcut...for instance, if you installed from an image and that image was updated with a Service Pack, your install would update automatically if launched from the Desktop or Start Menu.  If you launched from the Quick Launch toolbar, it would just run SolidWorks.  I never could figure out why that was...]]></description>
